I think this picutre shows functionalism because even though a cigarette receptacle is not aesthetically pleasing, it looks a lot better than cigarettes all over the street. What else could be used for cigarette’s that looks better?

Well I think that receptacles of any kind are good. You’re right when you say that that container is not aesthetically pleasing. I think that the receptacles should be designed to fit in with their surroundings, they would look better if it matched the things around them.

I think it would be better if people couldn’t automatically tell what they were for. The idea of a receptacle is a good one. The idea of more and being less apparent is even more appealing.
