"L'envol", modern sculpture in Montereau-fault-Yonne
"L'envol" is a marble like stone scupture which reinvent the rules of oversized and somehow grotesque statuary. "L'envol" belongs to two different contemporary artistic schools : "pompier moderne" (modern pompous) and "rond-point" (roundabout). Artist : Year : 2005
Since 1995, the town of Montereau-fault-Yonne has made an unprecedented effort in building new urban features in both urbain paintings (frescoes, trompe l'oeil) and statues. It has changed dramatically the perception of the city by its inhabitants and visitors, and brought Montereau to the first ranks of modern (but criticized as pompous by some) art in France.
