You seem to have found a way to preserve more nuances to your monochrome pictures, than I manage to, I often find that the contrasts are too high afterwards, and that details are lost in the shaded areas. But then I only use freeware like Photofiltre and Picasa. Photoshop just seems too expensive.

I would also recommend the GIMP - give it a go, it won't cost you anything! If your camera takes RAW images, you will also need ufraw installed. I use both the GIMP and Photoshop Elements; I find Elements easier to use and it is well supported by most photo magazines with tutorials and plug-ins.

Quite often I myself do not se these details before seeing the picture on the screen, and then I start cropping and adjusting. This picture actually is part of a larger, and quite straigtforward picture of a field and some trees, but the lines and curves caught my eye, luckily.

Hi Sneeman, I see this picture has been removed from public map, because its location has been disputed. It is very strange because nobody else but you could know where it was shot. I had the same problem with one of my pictures, which has been removed for a position dispute. The location proposed was absurd, and I discarded this suggestion, but the photo has remained out of public map. When you accept or discard the new location, maybe it might be worth controlling if your pictureis on public map again...
