Like the Panhandle of Texas. Gives you that "moonscape" feeling. Is the area you're standing on dirt, bedrock, or lava flow? Sort of looks like the latter, though I can't say why that would be.

Its a great big rock sticking out of the ground, as big as a hill. There are areas where dirt has accumulated in hollows where little islands of trees and shrubs grow...and in the 1940s when wood was cut around here to power provide power for the gold mines of Kalgoorlie, dams were built on the rock as well, with stone walls directing the water into them, to be used in the boilers of the steam locos pulling the wood along the "woodlines" (railways) back to Kalgoorlie. I've got some photos of some of these dams in my collection L. Look under my woodlines tag....
