Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whether it be in the sky or in the clouds, in the landscape or in the soil,it is there for all to see, but who can fully comprehend the peace and the splendour, the simplicity and intracacy of it all ? Seeing is believing we say,but the full experience has more to offer. Can we possibly ignore the gentle breeze that brings to us the almondy odour of blossoming trees, the smell of fresh cut grass and maturing grain crops, the wet foliage and watercress in the ditches. From more down to earth come the wafts of newly ploughed paddocks, silage fed to cattle and the fresh steamy dungs they've left behind. It is all part of an experience that has established our habitat and enriches life. Then we have the song of birds, the incessant whistle of the skylark, the cooing of woodpigeons, the warning call from breeding lapwings, and the distant sound of a hammering woodpecker. It can also be a touching experience, touching in more ways then one. Even as we stroke the shiny coats of farm animals, the silky feel of tall grasses and stinging nettles, or even how hard that bicycle seat has become. All in all it is part of a journey and yet there is more to come. Experiences that go beyond the five senses that direct our path on planet Earth. Thank you Irene for sharing your pictures with us. There is only one Holland.
