Dear Ian, maybe the locals had gone to bed, but the tourists were probably in the heart of the city enjoying a pint or 3 of Belgian beer accompanied by chips with whatever, and waffles. There is even a chip museum! Only in Belgium I think.

If you look closely there are 2 other people in the photo, walking towards the city centre - we were walking away from it :)))

Warm greetings from Norway to Australia, Amelia

Hi dear Amelia, back to your gallery is always a pleasure because I can find wonderful things like this fantastic reflections in the chanel!!! But ... where are the boats? very nice composition and shot my friend!!! LIKE!!!

Best wishes, Toto

Amelia Royan on June 14, 2011

Dear Toto, I'm so pleased that you look at my gallery with pleasure. Of course you are right about the lack of boats on the canal. Throughout the whole day the they wander, full of tourists, along all the canals. By evening they seem to stop, and it was so much more pleasant to go wandering. Thank you my friend for your compliment :)

I hope that your town is still not being covered by ash. When we got back to Norway last week our garden furniture was grey, and I think that may have been because of ash from the recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland.

Hugs from Norway, Amelia

Good evening Arturo, thank you for your kind words. During the day there were lots of boats going up and down the canals making 'waves'. The evening was the best time for walking around with a camera :)

Dear Erik, I think this is one of my favourite photos of Bruges. All the tourists were in the city centre enjoying a beer or three, the locals were probably catching up with the latest soap on TV, the boat trips had had enough - thank goodness, and the canals were perfect!

Groetjes van Amelia
