hi Rich, what is "Grand Tetons", the tag you use here ? the name of these mountains ?
Greetings Armagnac, There are so many stories about how the mountains in this range were named. My favorite is the one about the French Trappers who came into the valley and upon seeing the mountains exclaimed "Grand Tetons" with the loose interpretation being "Great Breasts". The rangers always get a chuckle when they tell that one. If you click on my Tag "Grand Tetons" or "Tetons" you will be able to see the range from different points of view. The park is one of the smaller parks in the system, but one of the most beautiful rating right up there with Yosemite and Yellowstone. Hope that helps.
it does ! thank you Rich, I'm going to explore the "Great Breasts" with interest ! Cheers, armagnac.
Very beautiful photo and scenery, Rich!
Greetings Armagnac, Check the main tags under the Tetons. There are some fabulous pictures from the area by other photographers. That will get you interested in visiting.
Greetings May, Once you get up to Inspiration Point the trail into Cascade Canyon "levels out" and you can cruise along without to much effort into some really beautiful scenery. Thanks for visiting and you wonderful comment.
Greetings May, Thanks for visiting Cascade Canyon and commenting. It is really beautiful up there. A little further in and you start seeing the back sides of the Tetons. What a nice place.
This is so wonderfull Rich, really impressive teh mountains on this area.
Greetings Alex, Thanks for visiting and commenting Cascade Canyon in the Grand Teton range in Wyoming. This is a special place if you get a chance to visit.
Really beautiful photo Rich! The peaks are crystal-clear against the sky.
Greetings, Rich! This is a wonderful shot. Is this pretty near the dock? Maybe at Inspiration Point? It looks you mapped it at the top of the switchbacks, but I don't recall the exact spot. Is this looking toward Grand Teton, or toward Paintbrush Canyon?
Greetings Eve and Ryan, Thanks for visiting the Tetons and your wonderful comments. This was another shot from the old days. It is just a short distance up above the Inspiration Point. As I recall you are getting to a point where the valley is beginning to get a little wider and the gorge to the left, running behind the Grand, is just beginning to open up. It was really beautiful up there and most of the tourists had turned around at the point. The view is mainly to the south west. Thanks again for visiting.
