Athens, Plaka - Anafiotika - JUL. 2011 CONTEST

Anafiotika is a tiny picturesque district of Athens, is perched on the north side of the Acropolis. Created during the reign of king Otto settled in the area where workers from Anafi, who came to Athens to work as masons in the construction of the palace of Otto. The district was built in the style of the Cycladic settlements and still maintain the light color of the island. It is quite small cubic houses, narrow streets, often resulting in several steps and climbing flowers like bougainvillea. Anafiotika are considered as the north-eastern extension of Plaka.
