Hi Steve, love the way you have captured the textures in the sand. Have you cropped this one?

I really like this one, it's the perfect silhouette. The purple sky and pick clouds are striking - do you go and visit your Illuminated Man every day?

hi steandeb, really like the capture of sky and land with your illuminated man, l also like some of the others were u really have to look twice and wonder is it a statue or is he alive :)

Roger Sandvik, on October 19, 2007, said:

woooo I really love this one, out of a series of many great pictures. He looks alive, standing there for a long time by the look of the sand covering his feet, ..... staring, wondering, contemplating perhaps, or longing .... waiting for something ... or someone. And to great enjoyment and admiration of your work, you wrecked the rule of third. Just nudging the man a little off center to the right, ..... and the real gem for me, you included a subtle little focus point bythe sea mark to make you look into the picture, ... looking out on the ocean to see what he sees! Great work!

Yes, this is an exceptionally fine one in a very interesting series. I won't try to list its strong points because Roger has done it so well.

Yet another fine shot in the series. I think that (like others) this is my favoured out of the recent series.

Hi steandeb. I can see why this is your favourite, I love it. I'm impressed by the number of different views you have captured of what is essentially a static subject. You do a really good job of picking out detail and framing with the sky.

steandeb, I'm happy to see more of our friend, The Illuminated Man! This one is my favorite of your new series. I like the light on the ripples and the long shadows. Perfect!

Your 'illuminated man' series is superb. I wish you could get a female dummy and make an 'illuminated chick' series!! If you can't find a female dummy you could make it with a real woman that I think no one would mind.

Congratulations Steandeb

This shot deserves all the prizes it can get

Vasco Pires, on February 2, 2008, said:

I agree with you steandeb. The problem is that there are photos in Panoramio that are so hugely popular and known that would obliterate the competition. Perhaps there should be a competition for 'non popular' photographs. It would be more even and perhaps would give us a chance

Marilyn Whiteley, on February 2, 2008, said:

Congratulations on some very well-deserved recognition!

Following the collapse of the "panoramio elections" attempt, there were some suggestions for more workable contests, but it would be such a complicated matter! Consider the number of Panoramians, the number of posted photos, the difference in what people attempt to do, and the different lengths of time people have been members (and hence have had their pictures looked at longer)...

Again I say congtraulations for recognition from "outside"! Marilyn

Jessica G., on February 2, 2008, said:

Congratulations steandeb! This photo is well worth thirty pounds, IMO. I'd love to see Panoramio competitions, but as Vasco and Marilyn said some photos are extremely well-known and popular, and there are just so many photos here! I hope somehow we can come up with a way though.
