When the snow is gone you are climbing through a waterfall. Who says the rangers don't have a sense of humor.
Tho photo reflects both the beauty and the challange. very nice!
Greetings Oronbb, It was fun going out and letting the kids learn how to handle themselves in steep snow conditions. Opens a whole new world of possibilities. Thanks for visiting and your wonderful comments.
Wow..how interesting! I am happy to view from here, rather than as one of the climbers!
Greetings YBMW, Thanks for visiting and the wonderful and insightful comments. Playing in the snow as a family is great fun.
Hello Rich, people must have a very good fitness to make this!
Interesting foto! Greetinds Alfred
Greetings Alfred and Bruce, Thanks for visiting the Falls at Lake of Glass and commenting.
Alfred, You don't have to be superman to do this, but it is good to have a few miles under your feet. The elevation gets up around 10,000 feet so there is a little less oxygen in the air. But you just take your time and rest more frequently. When the kids climbed Grays Peak a few years back they were passed by a little old lady in her 70's who would take three or four steps, stop and take two deep breaths, then repeat. There's also a ranger at Longs Peak named Walter, we call him "Valter", and he has the Valter shuffle. He takes half steps and cruises up the trail. Not bad for almost 90!
Bruce, there are permanent snow fields in CO where you can go ski on any day. It is not unusual on some trail heads to see people setting out with skis and snow boards. In winter, it's all about the back country skis with skins - skin in, slide out. And we do have really nice weather for it a lot of the time.
Thanks again for visiting.
Hi Rich, I love this series of photos on the Rocky Mountains.
Greetings Errece, Thanks for visiting the snow school and commenting. There was so much interest in the kids on Longs Peak, I thought I would show how they got there.
Greetings Mira, Thanks for visiting the snow school pictures of the kids and your kind comments. I am glad you liked them as a fellow mountaineer. We had so much fun and continue to do so.
