You have a wonderful talent of making industrial machinery look fascinating Carsten! :) They are objects we (well at least me ;) tend not to observe when driving by, but I find when I click on your pictures I'm studying the details of the machinery quite closely.

What is the above machine's purpose?

Hi Pam,

thank you for yor comments. What you can see is the smokepipe of the coking plant of the steel works Henrichshütte in Hattingen. It is now a museum for the industrial era of this region. Once 10000 people worked there. My girlfriend (xpaschen) and me we like to take photos of industrial sites or ruins. Her different view of this smokepipe can be seen here. It is always great to take different pictures.

Greetings from Germany,

Thank you Marilyn. I have always my analog slr with me as well. On the day we visited this site I tried to take photos analog only with my 50mm. I was surprised that colours remained pretty much the same after scanning.
