I was in Nuweiba (or Neviot as it was then called) for 4 months between Nov 1977 and Feb 1978 ... the transformation since then is astonishing ... thx for this pic of how it was.
I was there for a few days at about the same moment and it is a wonderful souvenir, the Sinaï, the oasis, the bedouins, the Red Sea, and the pink color of Saudi Arabia at the sunset.How is this place now?
I camped there for three weeks during the spring of 74. It was one of the highlights of my life: built a hut from discarded items along the beach, learned to fish with a spear gun that a visiting israeli soldier had with him, drank tea with the bedouins, and probably developed a predisposition for skin cancer.:) While I have great memories, I never had any photos of those days. Thanks for posting this pic. It brought back vivid memories.. By the way, do you remember the british guy who dressed like lawrence of arabia and lived in a large tent toward the south end of the beach? Thanks, again
Hi viaduk, I visited the place twice, in 73 and in 75, but only for a day. Consequently my memories are rather faint and I have no memories of the that British guy. Cheers, Lutz
