Boy are you fluent. Thanks for the education as I took critters to be small animals, like mice.

Anyway back to the photo, at 72mm focal length I take it you were fairly close to this critter or have you cropped the shot.

ah, man, what a BEAUTY!! You've really outdone yourself with this one - fine work Mr. Hoyt!

David Brown Photogra… on June 12, 2011

Kenny I do what I can - 72mm is about 300mm in old money (35mm-speak) so I reckon I was 30 feet away. It is cropped a tad but not much.

Thank you Kevin just our local lake (again) the green herons are a treat to catch though. This was was determined to eat fish he was sick of amber bugs I would say.

Best wishes both from a stormy North Carolina - Jethro

And Jethro, dear Kenny will still be confused if you don't explain Y'all and Reckon. ;)

Liam I think you under estimate us northern folks, we's pretty cosmopolitan we's is!

Thas reet though Liam Green Herons are very fine birds to hunt (with a camera)

now, this is just showing off!! :) you got a new camera?! this is one colourfull bird picture!

David Brown Photogra… on June 15, 2011

I'm going to be Frank with you now Unda

I only took this whilst stalking around in the bushes waiting for the dang Kingfisher to come back.

I AM going to get the little blighter if its the last thing that I do.

Welcome back from your travels - Frank

i gave up my hopes- we been several times up and down the river and all we saw was 2 fly by glimpses of blue... its just amazing how so unnatural blue colour can blend in green background bushes and can be so hard to see! :) and all i got from all those walks was my dancing heron... so now you see how lucky you are! :)

David Brown Photogra… on June 16, 2011

I was out on a different lake tonight Unda and saw a Kingfisher who teased me.

Still no photographs - Frank errr I mean Jethro

Unda J. on June 16, 2011

my certain somebody been bugging me to go to botanics- imagine?!: they had sparrowhawk nesting there so they installed cameras over the nest! and as we have break in clouds today im pretty sure we will end up stalking kingfisher again :D

i guess its more challenging on a loch- because the bird just fly over to the other side and while cameraman get to other side the bird is back to this side... :))))) i know its not funny...

Excellent capture, Jethro! So difficult to get a good shot of this bird! Very well done! YS and Like Cheers, Patty

Thank you Joy (how did I miss your comment?).

The green heron is illusive Patty and quite hard to see as well. But down at our community wilderness petting zoo we has 'em!

Best wishes - Jethro

I'm crushed, Jethro! My illusion has been destroyed! Thought this guy was in the wild. Still - a wonderful shot! - Patty

David Brown Photogra… on July 18, 2011

OH NO! I misled you Patty

Thats just my crazy little joke for out local park. The animals are all wild but have become dependant upon the Cherio and cracker proffering locals who sustain them.

Sorry - they are 100% free to come and go as they like - only the herons, swans and swallows and the snakes don't beg. The fish, deer, turtles, ducks and geese all do.
