It was my grandfather's house (Nemesio Urrechaga), and where he resided until 1964 when he came to the U.S. in exile. My great grandfather purchased it in 1914 from Panchita Leon, hence, the name "La Panchita". The star is the star of David, since Panchita Leon was Jewish. The Castro government changed the symbol to hinder any Jewish presence. Two lion statues were situated in the entrance of the house to symbolize her last name Leon.
