Sundown @ Runswick Bay

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

From my vantage point high on the cliff top near a farm at Kettleness, I witnessed this breath-taking spectacle which seemed to go on forever and ever. In the height of summer, during the month of June, the sun sets very high in the northern hemisphere, it only dips below the horizon for a few hours. Sunsets last an extraordinary long time. The ship on the horizon is a twenty thousand tonne fast cargo ferry on its return journey home.
