"Books on the library" is one of the oldest frescoes in Montereau-fault-Yonne, it has been painted during the very end of the XXth century in order to underline, if necessary, the vocation of this building, the community library. This realistic work belongs the Port Salut's movement, very prolific in Montereau, both with sculptures and wall paintings. Artist : Year : 1995-2000 Since 1995, the town of Montereau-fault-Yonne has made an unprecedented effort in building new urban features in both urbain paintings (frescoes, trompe l'oeil) and statues. It has changed dramatically the perception of the city by its inhabitants and visitors, and brought Montereau to the first ranks of modern (but criticized as pompous by some) art in France.
