The building was built so that a fourth floor could eventually be added, but it would probably have been expensive and difficult to do. The building became extremely crowded with materials in the 1980s and 90s. For my money, the decision to build a whole new main library was a wise one.

I hope this building, though, will be preserved for its uniqueness and as an example of how exhuberant and original architecture COULD be in the 1960s.
