Sunny beach, dark sea, blue sky and dark rain clouds, in the distance some mountains - all that I could wish for...

Hi May! You seem to have a never ending collection of shots from Ireland with wonderful, cloudy, skies! People in Holland sometimes speak of 'Dutch skies'. I think that nowhere you can see more beautiful 'Dutch skies' then in Ireland... Your pictures prove I'm right! Greetings, Dick.

Hello Dick! Yes and I have still some more. You see, I have so many photos, because I went alone on this trip and thus haven't been detained by someone begging me to leave and go on and look for a room or other unimportant things. ;) I was really free to stay as long or as short as I wished and I could fully concentrate on enjoying the scenery and taking photos.

In England they call those clouds "Constable Clouds" after the painter. :)

Hi May! Unfortunately I never was on Achill Island, I never got further north then Connemara (Clifden). Clouds of this kind were also painted by the Dutch and Flamish 'masters' of the 17th century. Greetings, Dick.

Ja, wundervolle Wolkenstimmungen gibt's wirklich in Irland. Von den ca. 400 Photos, die ich bisher hochgeladen habe, gibt's kaum eine, wo nicht wenigstens ein Stück Wolke zu sehen war. Ganz so, wie ich's mag.

Thank you Nawitka, for visiting my collection and for your words! Yes, I was lucky that evening with the weather and I am grateful for it. The other day it rained a lot, so I went on on my trip. But I returned last summer. I love these places away from the tourist's road.

Thank you Tony! Achill island is one of my most favourite places. I mean it's not only the coast, but the people, their history, the solitary geographical position, the bogs, turf, houses, the dangerous wild sea tearing at the rough cliffs, the sands, the wild flowers, the poetry, the dramatic mise en scène of nature and many things more, which make me love this unique place - though I am from a landlocked country. :-)

Being in this place, I could spend there all day :) Really cool!

Achill Island is a very special place. I could stay there too for a long time, but a raincoat is recommended, because you never know, when there will be some sudden rain. ;)
