You lived there for 20 years? It looks like a cold place. What kind of things do people do up there?

Work, shovel snow, work, shovel snow, work shovel more snow.Thats in the winter. In the spring my wife and I worked but we also helped the villager prepare for whaling,we also hunted caribou when we first got there and ducks as well.Summer is beutiful but for all i'ts beauty comes a price, Mosquitos and I mean mosquitos I called them our state bird.Only joking, sort of,state bird is the Willow Ptarmigan.Ok back to activities,we had our atv's and our boat. You could ride for hours and hours without seeing anybody but wild life.Arctic Fox,Caribou, geese, ducks ground squrels, lemmings, too numerous to say.Oh i forgot the Polar Bears in our front yard at times. That was scarry. Wee enjoyed our time there, the freedom the people some family some just friends.Anyway if you ever get a chance, travel to Barrow and see all there is to see and to do in the warmer mounths......John

Wow! That would be so cool to live there, just because of how unique and sincere it is. My question would be, what do you do for entertainment up there?
