The sign says: "IN THIS HOLY SPOT WHERE TIGRIS MEET EUPHRATES THIS HOLY TREE OF OUR FATHER ADAM GREW SYMBOLISING THE GARDEN OF EDEN ON EARTH ABRAHAM PRAYED HERE 2000 YEARS BC"
I have been there and taken pictures of Adam tree in spring 1971. The place looked different. Iraqies were friendly, hospitable and one felt to be in an ancient cradle of civilization. What is left of it now?
Hello g.janour, I'm afraid the tree died some years ago, as you can see here. A pity! Thanks for your visit and comment. Greetings from Germany.
is this the tree adam ate off?
I was there in 1956 and 1957 working on the new
road from Basra to Amarah.
Thank you sallscf for your visit and comment. I guess we're both old hands having seen this tree still alive! Greetings from Germany, Bastian
