St. Mark is the patron of Venice. Winged lion represents St. Mark's. Winged lion is widespread all over the country as a symbol of Venetian power. Granite column with the symbol of the saint has been installed on the square San Marco in 1172. Here there were public executions. In a few tens of meters erected a similar column with the symbol of the saint of San Teodoro. Святой Марк – покровитель Венеции. Его олицетворяет крылатый лев. Он встречается по всей территории республики, как символ венецианского владычества. Гранитная колонна с символом святого была установлена на площади Сан-Марко в 1172 году.Здесь проходили публичные казни. В нескольких десятках метров воздвигнута аналогичная колонна с символом святого Сан-Теодоро.
