Amazing rocks

What a great shot! Your pictures bring back great memories for me of my own travels through the rocky mountains... ...and to answer your question, that is my permanent home. There are still a few wild places left in this country...

Fantastic place. The strength of the nature creates fantastic forms. Greetings from Portugal

Thank you for your comment, Avelino. This place is fantastic, but not unusual in Utah. It is filled with beautiful canyons and fantastic forms!

You might be interested to know there's a similar slot canyon in SW Turkey west of Kas (pronounced Kash) - a big tourist attraction with restaurants at it's mouth - but I've forgotten the name. It resembles this pic but it is made of polished marble!!

Thank you All for your comments. I am sorry to be so tardy in replying.

Thanks, Bruce, though I must admit I did not take this photo (my husband did), and I'm the one in photo.

Thank you for visiting, gigman!

Hello MaxFarrar, I have seen marble canyons before, they are impressive. There are no restaurants at the mouth of this sandstone canyon. The closest town is Hanksville, Utah (population ~200). I doubt you can even find a decent cup of coffee within 80km.

Thanks for the tip, Bruce. Nice to know there's something besides that horrible restaurant in Green River (where the motel is). I personally like little cafes. I'll have to look for it next time I'm in the neighborhood.

I have remembered the name of the marble canyon in Turkey that looks like Little Wildhorse. It's called the Saklikent Gorge just North of ancient Xanthos. There are a lot of good pix of it in GE.
