I have never done HDR. Is it difficult to learn? The effect it presents is very dramatic.

You can try the Photomatix software for free by downloading it from HDRsoft.com.

It's easy to use HDR software to cmbine three exposures of the same scene (best to use a tripod when taking them). It can be difficult to end up with a realistic-looking result, but the trial software allows you to create three shot averages that are realistic and can be better than any of the three exposures you started with.
