I like the "Slice of Life" side of the Sydney's collection.
Night shots in town are always strange, the emptiness of the scene constrasts with lights that keep the city awake... And lights appear with particular colours on digital cameras.
Places are usually crowded, it makes a strange difference.
I am really glad you like it Stéphane, for it is one of my favourites.
It was not a set up shot, even the woman looking my way was not aware that the camera that was sitting on the next table was taking the occasional photo. I don't use a tripod - I prefer to use stable surfaces for all my slow shots.
As for your perceptive comments about the absence of people, this was because it was 10:30pm on a stormy night - everything is wet and it was raining heavily until a few minutes before this was taken. The other photos in this cluster were taken during the storm in the case of the ones under the bridge, or just after the storm in the case of the opera house forecourt.
Hope you enjoy last night's shots as well.
My dream about Australia in continuing, thanks for share this photo, it's simply beautiful!!
Keep dreaming and visualising and do some daring planning, Rafal. It will be wonderful when it is realized. What better time than when you family is still young.
This image is one of those stolen moments: the three did not realize that the camera sitting on the table wasn't being used! But as Stéphane says, it did result in capturing a 'slice of life'!
