Thank you, again, YBMW and Palmina.

Thanks, Jen :D. I actually took it from the deck of the hotel we were staying in, so definitely an lucky, but easy shot to get. The mountains there are fantastic and incredibly photogenic. It also helps that the sunsets last about an hour there.

Very beautiful, Eve! It looks as cold as one thinks it is in Alaska! Wonderful autumn and winter colours.

Great shot Eve ! We truly see the real beauty of America through your work. Félicitations !

Thank you very much for your kind words, Diorama. The mountains of Alaska are very impressive, however if one travels a few hundred kilometers southeast of this, you are able the see the equally fantastic mountains of Canada. The entire North American Continent is very beautiful!

Syl de Canada on October 29, 2007

Another great shot Eve I love the colours! Cheers Sylvie

Thank you, steandeb, it is not really desolate. I took the photo from a hotel in Wasilla, Alaska.

Thank you, Sylvie, it was a lovely sunset.

I appreciate your comments, Bruce!

Reynald.d.Chatillon on November 5, 2007

Great pic Eve. The most impressive part, for me, is the dark and thick line of trees.

walkaboutwest on November 8, 2007

Thank you, Thomas, it was not so cold when we were there. The lake was not frozen yet.

You really should head for Alaska, sometime, Rich. It would not be expensive to fly from Denver and rent a car. Thank you for the complement.

Gracias, Epi. Alaska ha fantasticas montanas!

Maybe this should be your next destination, Hank. There are many scenic highways, and it's as easy to get to as Utah :). I know you'd take great photos here.

Thank you so much for your positive comments, Anne!

I was lucky with the photo, Reynald, the peaks were still illuminated, but everything else was out of the sun. Perhaps the contrast helped the photo.

Hi Eve. I did the tourist-Alaska thing a number of years back. It was my 50th state, and the only one where I didn't get to drive.

My goal is to drive the Alcan Highway, and my hope is it will take me through the Canadian Rockies (I obviously have to check a map before I go).

It would be worth the long drive to get one shot as good as this one of yours, but to do that I need both the scenery and the luck of the timing.

Grat shot; really!

Hank
