Thanks. :0) Yeah, it was about an hour before sunset when we got to Opelika. This was about the best angle to get a decent shot without too much sun on it. This bridge was re-opened back in August after being rebuilt. It was destroyed by a fallen tree at its original location in 2005. Unfortunately, they made the bridge shorter than its initial length, 43 feet instead of 76 feet.

I like these new bridges too Foxx. The light and the shadows of the trees go nicely with the criss-crossed pattern on the bridge.

Thanks. There is actually still graffiti on the lattices and bottom running boards, which was part of the original construction of the bridge after years of neglect. It was just lightly painted over, though you'd have to be near the interior of the bridge to see it. They may have done that on purpose to show the public that much of the original materials were used in the reconstruction of the bridge.

This is gorgeous! It's very short and cute! Alabama?

Foxx Trotter on March 1, 2008

Yeah, luv...Alabama. Opelika is located near the city of Auburn in the southeast corner of the state. Not far from these two are the cites of Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia. The bridge was originally located in the community of Salem, 10 miles east of Opelika.
