Benign and beneficent they'd have us believe ...but we've seen the documentaries about the true depths of their piety.

A part of Salisbury Cathedral's fine stonework.

A theme of power and corruption more than piety and benevolence! Another good composition and perfect exposure.

Yeah, you got the point I was trying to make ;-) Thanks for the feedback.

Btw, anyone see anything odd about the lighting in this one? I did cheat with the sky and am not sure if it works.

I thought there was something 'off' with the sky, but I think that was more to do with the hard outline of the building than anything else.

I think the clouds add some nice depth, have you noticed the two faces in them, too?

@Matthew: I keep coming back to this. On the one hand, it is a bit 'off', on the other, the more I look at it, the more I think It enhances the overall effect (or is that my innate laziness coming out!!).

I think I'll leave it for a while longer then maybe revisit it with a view to making the sky more believable.. Though realism isn't really what I'm after in this shot.

@Franco: thanks for the props... The lens was the standard kit lens that came with the 350D - EFS 18-55mm zoom.
