I wish fall lasted forever so we could see this kind of photos from your album everyday :p
It's hard to believe we're on the same planet. God, how beautiful!

Lovely photo, the shadowed foreground, complete with dark cattle, really helps to emphasize the golden trees and the velvet blanket of colours on the far hills. I especially love those orange, pink and green highlights on the mountains. I have to give this the yellow star!

Thank you AndresTM for your kind words. One nice thing about the climate in Virginia is that we tend to have long springs and long autumns which allows us to enjoy these beautiful seasons longer!
Thanks Tamas and Vicki for visiting and for your comments as well and thanks for the yellow star Vicki! I almost did not post this one, I am glad I did. Bruce

Hi Bruce.
This beautiful foto looks almost 3D with the dissapearng of the colors on the background very very nice!!
regards Tjeert
Yank in Dixie, on October 29, 2007, said:
Thank you Tjeert! The 3D effect is due to the haze that is often found hanging over these mountains especially in warm weather. Sometimes it is so heavy because of the humidity in the air that visibility is greatly reduced but at times when it less heavy it adds to a nice view. Greetings from the States! Bruce

Dang, my friend. The amount of spectacular pictures you have of places in Virginia is astounding. It doesn't surprise me to see great pictures on Google Earth, but to see a person with so many in my stomping grounds (Virginia) is surprising; by the looks of your photos, I'd say you've probably seen at least as much of Virginia as I have, which is saying a lot. The difference is that you have photos of more places, and your pictures are professional grade. I created two profiles on Panaramio, "idawriter2" is my other one and it has the bulk of my pictures in Virginia that I've uploaded so far (I have pictures from trips a while back before I got on Panaramio that I haven't put up yet). It's just that every time I go to check out pictures in some rural corner of VA I see yours there. Good photography, it's great seeing your photos!

Thanks Malcolm for all your kind words. I took a look at your postings and it looks like you have been around a bit! I enjoyed your shots as well especially the plains of South Dakota (it's a different world out there!) and PEI. I have never been to either place but would love to some day. I also took a look at your Virginia pictures and you definitely have some places I am familiar with! I have lived here 3 different times beginning in 1976 when I lived and volunteered at a place called Innisfree Village which is north of White Hall at the foot of Pasture Fence and Cedar Mountains. My wife and I moved back here a little over a year ago and we live in Afton. Well, the mailing address is Afton although I have been told it is really Greenwood in spite of the fact that we are only 2 miles north of Batesville (go figure!) Interestingly I live only a mile or so from another native Virginian named Brandon Belew who has some nice shots of this area as well on Panoramio. You can find him in my favorites list. If you are interested, I have a website where I have converted some of my photos to look like paintings for sale. I also have a number of the images at the Batesville Store if you are ever in the area. The website is: http://greenwood.ifp3.com. This address must be typed directly into the address line of your web browser. Thanks again for the comments and the visit.

Oh neat, I will definitely check that site out! And I'll also stop in at the Batesville Store next time I'm down that way so I can see those paintings. And as for South Dakota and PEI, each is amazing in its own way. There'll be a lot more driving involved in South Dakota, though, haha. Both are worth visiting, though. And thanks to your pictures I know some places I'd like to visit in Virginia that I've not been to yet!

I drove by Batesville Store yesterday, but unfortunately it was after 6:00 by the time I got there so the store was closed. Oh well, maybe next time. However at least I did get to stop by the Miller School, which I had never seen before.

Hey Bruce, thanks for dropping my name to Malcolm =) Hope all's well, I've missed your updates on here!

No problem Brandon. Been very busy between work, the new business and youth ministry so have not had much time for Panoramio. However I have lots of new images that I have taken now that spring has arrived. Once I get them converted over I hope to post some of them as the original photos on Panoramio. Hope all is going well at school. Should be showing some signs of spring up there by now! Bruce
