Sometimes when the air is hazy with dust particles, a majestic shadow of Damavand Peak can be observed projected on the air just before sunrise. The photo is captured from 66 kilometers distance from the peak. Damavand Peak with height of 5700 meters, is the highest point in the whole Middle East. It is an inactive volcanic peak located in the middle Alborz Range. The mountain is located near the Southern coast of the Caspian Sea and it is about 66 kilometers (41 miles) far from the capital city of Tehran. Damavand peak has a special place in Persian mythology and folklore.
