Thank you, Billy! It was about an hour's walk. When we arrived there a Holy Mass was just being celebrated so we stayed for a while. It's a beautiful place. Here is another photo of the chapel taken in spring! Cheers, Anne

Greetings Anne, Another fine example of how people get back to nature for being closer to their god. What a beautiful setting. Thanks for taking that walk so you could show us this picture.

Cheers,

Rich

Thank you very much for your comments, Rich and **Tamás*! We don't visit this place very often, but I like going there. There is also a bell in the chapel that people can ring. Greetings, Anne

Wonderfull photo Anne! A very nice chapel in the woods, looks like it is for outside services, by the benchs in a round shape on the forground of the picture. Can it be a Oak Forest? if so, or not, it might be a Christianization of a Pagan Sacred Place, where the ancient pre christian religions have their services, maybe Celtic people.

There's a lot of places like this one in Europe, where Roman Catholic church on the beginning of their word spread in Europe, instead of destroying the local religions and sites they Christianized them (in some cases).

Cheers, Alex

Thank you for your comment, Alex. This forest is a mixed forest, there are beech trees, oak trees, pines and many others. This chapel was first mentioned in 1748, then destroyed in 1789 and rebuilt in 1948/49. Greetings, Anne

Like
