Earlier than that Jock; it was used for prisoners between 1902 and 1907, and they were used for clearing land and digging drains...according to the information panel nearby. Then the prison outstation closed and the barracks were put into service as a Hall. It was actually located quite some distance away in the pine plantation but smokers were causing a hazard so the hall was towed to its current location...104 years ago! In the old photo at the nearby info panel, the hall has a small porch on the front, and it looks wrong without it, they need to build it back on. Great isn't it Lex to see a place like this so cared for & well maintained!
