Ah, this looks like the same view from standing farther back. This street with the two buildings are a very beautiful piece of foreground to add. I get so used to seeing buildings that have a footing and foundation to separate them from the ground or the street, but these look like they're built from the same stones, and just rise up out of the street surface.
Thanks for you comments, Ryan. I think you may be right about the foundations (or the absence thereof), but I don't understand how the houses don't slide down the hill. Maybe the sheer weight of the stones is enough.
