The Google Earth marker is on the freeway because that's where the photo was shot from. This is per upload and placement instructions associated with photos uploaded to Panoramio for Google Earth.

That's the igloo house! That and "Father Una-pera Sera" were my favorite landmarks on I280 while growing up in the 70's and the 80's.

Most commonly known by the nickname "Flintstone House" (among others), the actual location of the house is 37°31'53"N 122°21'32"W, at 45 Berryessa Way, Hillsboro, California. It's best viewed from the Eugene A. Doran Memorial Bridge on the northbound side of Interstate 280. Since stopping and walking is prohibited on the bridge, the house is best shot with the help of an accomplice while you whizz by at highway speed.
Since this photo was taken, the house has been repainted a deep orange color, sometime in the mid-2000s.
There's a good writeup archived at The Wave Magazine: http://www.thewavemag.com/pagegen.php?articleid=24784&pagename=article

Thanks for the update Photon Flux! You do realize, of course, that photographers submitting to Panoramio are advised to place their marker where the photo was shot FROM, rather than place it where the object shot exists, right?
