Beautiful car, nice perspective. I haven't seen one of these in years here in the U.S., maybe they were all shipped overseas.

Thank you for the feedback, Ken. What you told was a surprise to me. Possibly the ones that were not shipped have served there very long and well. I too do not see the car models of my youth very often here, but I am quite sure that those oldtimers have not ever been shipped very eagerly anywhere :). Probably something to do with much less classy outlook.

I didn't know they exported these. Magnificent vehicle. If you can believe Wikipedia, the holes on the side identify this as a 1960 Buick LeSabre, which was just introduced the previous year.

I think there has been quite a lot of private import of classics and spare parts in later years and not much original import in the 50's and 60's. Many of these great cars have been built almost from the start back to their original splendour.

I'm not an expert of classic cars and noticed that it is sometimes very hard to recognize the models. Just when you think you have succeeded you will find out that there were several brands that had started to make almost same looking cars.

Certainly GM cars started to look alike; several models from different marques would often be made in the same plant. But the 1959-1960 GM models were all very distinctive looking with characteristic front grilles and prominent rear fins; they are possibly the most sculptural popular automobiles every built.

Lovley lowrider...!

I think we met this one (with the others) on its way to summit. Is there regular day for meeting action in Pieksämäki? I think we met it at the first mid of July.

It really is a small world! Yes, I suppose the event is about the same July weekend every year.
