Leider nicht - in den hohen Lagen des Gr. Arber liegt noch etwas, sonst aber nicht.

Yes Andreas, I have been to Germany, recently in 2005. It was only for 10 days and then only in the north from Rostok to Hartz, Berlin to Dithmarschen. The previous visit was in 1978 when we enjoyed Bavaria very much. That time we had a few weeks and used our British campervan to criss-cross FDR, Austria and Czechoslovakia. Our 2005 journey had 2 main purposes: I investigated the peaceful regime change that had taken place in DDR (Goodbye DDR) and the reunification of Germany 10 years on, by listening to a cross-section of folk mostly from the old borderlands (Wismar, West Mecklenburg, Celle, Ilsenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin..) to learn there perspectives, experience, and personla change). The second purpose was to reunite with German descendants of our common ancestors after more than 200 years of family dispersal from the fuedalism of Mecklenburg. And what sheer joy and a string of wonderful encounters it all was. Germany is not only in my blood but in my heart too. I therefore will keep an eye on your portfolio of photos looking for more of your homeland. I think this one is another delicate and special photo. Kind regards, Ian PS: I have enjoyed your travels through NZ, Australia, Tonga, Finland, Scotland, Italy too!

Yes there have been a lot of changes since the fall of the "iron curtain" between east and west. I grew up in a border town to Czechoslovakia - now Czech Republik, even the names have changes - and there used to be electric fences, strict controls and you neede a visa. Now you just show your ID-Card and drive over to the cheaper gas stations or go hiking in and out as you like. From January on there will be no controls at all.
Unfortunately, i can´t present more of my pictures from Germany, because mostly they´re on paper prints. But as i keep on travelling - in Germany as well - there will be mor pictures.
Cheers, Andreas!
