This is not Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, this is St Luke's church at the top of Bold Street at the junction of Berry Street and Leece Street. Built in 1831 it is a familiar landmark, a casualty of the second world war, only it's outer wall and tower remain standing. The building was left as a memorial to the casualties of the blitz.

Liverpool previously used the now demolished parish church of Saint Peter's in Church Street as a "pro-cathedral". There is a small brass cross set in the pavement on Church Street to mark the spot were the alter once stood.

for a start who ever posted this pic has placed it wrong so dont know liverpool very well also what u see in the pic is its origonal structure befor the bomb in ww2 so the alter was in side so the cross will not represent were the alter was....

Sue, you´re right, but i didn´t say it was Liverpool´s Anglican Cathedral, but the old one. In fact, the new cathedral was built following the patterns of this one. And the position of the picture may be wrong; i didn´t feel like being so precise, but good comments anyway.

Damian, this was never any sort of Cathedral, please change the title. Your comment about the new cathedral 'following the patterns of this one' makes no sense whatsoever. They don't even point the same way and the Cathedral's tower is in the centre, not at one end. Before the Cathedral was consecrated, Liverpool's pro-Cathedral was St Nicholas Church at the Pier Head, the 'Seaman's Church'.

Also known as the Doctors church, St Lukes was damaged on the 5 may 1941, and letf as it is as a war memorial.

Debs xxx

hola deborah!! i don´t think anybody were rude in their comments; they just said what they thought and very problably they were right. i actually lived in liverpool for half a year and yes, i enjoyed quite a lot!! thanks for your comment!! and good Spanish!!
Deborah Marsden, on July 2, said:
Sorry, grosera is the wrong word, but I hadn't seen many posts at this point & thought that they should've also mentioned how they felt about the image, rather than just concentrate on the mapping issues.
Lo siento! Soy nuevo en Panoramio! Me alegro de que te gusto mi ciudad!
Saludos desde Liverpool!
