It is a part of the Atlantikwall. Here in WW2 was a depot of the german navy. it was called "15 KVA D1 Stützpunkt HASSO".

This staircase leads to an underground headquarters of Generalfeldmaschall Erwin Rommel. The Pas-de-Calais was heavily fortified. The Germans expected here the invasion. The D-Day began on 06 June 1944, however in the Normandy.
