Total lunar eclipse: The most recent total lunar eclipse occurred on June 15, 2011; it was a central eclipse, visible before sunrise. It was also the longest and darkest lunar eclipse of the century, lasting 100 minutes. A * lunar eclipse* can only occur the night of a full moon.
