Your tag says Plum Island,
Parker Wildlife Refuge.
Your location pointer indicates
that this picture was taken about
300 meters from the Seabrook
Nuclear Power Station. Guess that
explains it all!
Thanks, weirdpix! I hadn't realized this had the Plum Island tags on it. I guess I tagged it at the same time I tagged several other shots from along the coast, and forgot where it was from. :D
Hi kamaly. I referenced this photo over on one of mine where I am mentioning some of the "issues" of the S5IS. I still like this egret though!
thanks, Nawitka :) Its funny - I'd intended to just upload this temporarily for the discussion about the fringing, but found I didn't want to delete it!
I've finally started to using the AV setting as much of the time as possible, and try to avoid using the digital zoom, and that's helped a lot. But now that summer's coming, I think I'm going to really start wanting a nice crisp zoom for the birds.
Well, I'm glad you did decide to keep it in. Although the red fringe works well in this case (nuclear egret next to the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant)(though most people will be unaware of this), it is apropos. Are you having better success using aperture priority? I find it a bit frustrating having to choose between Av, Tv & manual focus. I get home thinking that I have some good shots only to find the butterfly all blurry and the grass in the background in sharp focus. I plan to get a high quality scanner so I can use my F3 again (upload picture I take with it).
