St.Bees North Head and Fleswick Bay

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Seen from the cliff path above the shingle beach of Fleswick Bay, St.Bees North Head is the most Westerly point of Northern England. The red St.Bees sandstone is still extracted to the North of the unmanned lighthouse, at Birkhams quarry.

Thanks Ismail and Nickolay, much appreciated.

Thia is a beautiful piece of our coastline with many seabirds nesting on the sandstone cliffs.

Best regards from England.

Wow....... I never thought I'd find a good picture of Fleswick Bay Pete

We would go down and climb on the rocks just to the right of the valley floor. It looks atrocious to me now, but we were young. What more can I say?

Fantastic.... many thanks for posting - Jethro

Ah Pete I remember it well from a scorching day in May 1990. The first day of our failed Coast to Coast Walk!

Went down to the bay and had a cuppa before continuing. I must scan and upload the photos!

Best wishes Peter

Many thanks Barbara, Jethro, Georgi, Carloso, Michele, Nick, Mel, Manfred, Angelika, Martin, Peter, Donald, Mauro & Mara, Peter, Steve and Christos for your great comments, likes and Y*'s. We'd not visited St.Bees before and were impressed by the high sandstone cliffs. This brightly coloured clifftop plant caught my eye as a useful bit of foreground for the scene. I have a few more from this bit of coast that I'll upload soon.

Best regards
