A large mother brown bear with two lovely cubs, (you can see one of them near the dead trunk, this time I was cautious not to get too close.....she could be a very protective and dangerous mummy.....when she is with cubs

Thank you Armagnac I suppose you are 100% right, I wouldn't get closer to her cubs at less than 50mt!

Semi nascosto dal tronco in basso a sinistra è per caso il cucciolo?

Ciao, Paolo

The Man in the Maze™ on August 25, 2011

Grazie Paolo,si esatto! un cucciolo e' semi nascosto dal tronco alle spalle della mamma, l'altro e' all destra della mamma, leggermente indietro a lei in linea d'aria, io ero ad una sessantina di metri dalla famigliola

Dezső Biczó, Thank you I am glad you like this forest and its inhabitants!

The only way I would get within 50 meters of a brown bear would be if I was inside my truck. They can run at least twice as fast as I can and since I usually hike alone, I wouldn't even have the hope of outrunning my hiking companion ;-)

Art Brown on August 26, 2011

Oh, and it is an impressive picture, too. Well done.

Art Brown on August 26, 2011

I guess I just got rattled by seeing a bear.

The Man in the Maze™ on August 26, 2011

Thank you Art, I like this picture too and recalls very beautiful memories of a majestic place! Me a my friend made sure to stay at a safety distance, a mother bear is nothing to play around too close, they are serious when defending their cub!

larry e walton on August 28, 2011
