Hello, this is Russ Rowlett, webmaster of the Lighthouse Directory, hosted at the University of North Carolina, USA. This is a very rare photo of the Kolyuchin Island lighthouse, and I am hoping you will allow me to use it on the Directory's new page for Lighthouses of Chukotka. The Directory is an educational project, completely non-commercial. Please take a look (third photo on the page); I hope you will think this is a fair use.
Russ, more than happy for you to use my photo. There are a couple more photos in those that I took of Wrangel Island. These are beacons (one at doubtful point, the other at dream head) rather than lighthouses, so may not be within the scope of your work, but you are more than welcome to use them if you want. Your page looks very interesting, I shall enjoy reading it in detail.
Thank you, Harry, and congratulations on one of the quickest responses ever to one of my requests. I've changed the caption to include your permission, and I will certainly have a look at your other photos.
I found so many lighthouses in Chukotka, I had to split the page in two. This photo is now featured at the top of the Northern Chukotka page.
Looking at the pistures I have of the lights at Mys Somnitelnaya (also here and at Mys Florensa (also (http://www.panoramio.com/photo/58025337 )[here] ) they seem very similar in construction to the pictures of lights on the Taymyria section.
Reading your comments on the Chegitun, I have a picture of the abandoned village and river mouth here which I would think would show a 12m structure and does not, so maybe it is not still standing after all?
