cool photo. is this mine (or cave) very deep? have you been to the back of it?

Hunter20 on January 20, 2013

I am under the understanding it use to be mined clear back in the day. I went a little ways into it the day I took the picture to see how far back it went and I couldn't see the end but it got to the point you had to crawl to see more and I didn't dare. ha ha

How long ago was it that you took this picture? I believe that this mine in your photo might be called the "Amazon Mine", i haven't been there yet myself but i plan to find it this spring.

The reason i want to know how long ago it was that this picture was taken is because somebody who has been to one of the Amazon mine tunnels (there is supposed to be multiple tunnels in the area) told me the Amazon mine is now closed up?

I think it was two or three years ago. I have asked around and that is the name everyone told me it was called was the amazon mine but there is no sign by the mine or any information about it. It is really easy to find and it is only 100 yards or so off the road really easy to get to. I am not into the whole cave thing but i think if you like it and have the equipment i think you could find some things in there. I can try and get you gps location if you really want to go?

I have Some gps coordinates to it but i got them from basically using you photo on the map (in google maps) But some legit spot on gps coordinates of the place from somebody who's actually been there would be great. Thanks a ton!

I was looking on some maps and two of the maps said the amazon mine was on the north side of 91 going through the canyon and this is on the south side so I am not sure what they call it. Also when you are walking to the location you will see a cement pad just before the mine like there use to be a house or some type of building at some point in time. If you do end up going up to this place and going down into the mine please let me know and attach pics i would love to see what it looks like down inside i just dont dare to go in. ha ha Thanks

Haha well i just plugged that into my GPS and my other way point marker was almost over lapping the new one. (My very first Gps coordinate to the place however was pretty far off and to the north side of 91 like you were talking about)

Still i thank you anyways. I am going to definity document and take pictures inside and out of the mine, and i'll send you what i got when I've got it :)

Well I still haven't been able to go up to the mine (though I still think I'll go up sometime before winter hits) However I did find and explore a sweet mine called "Lucky Star Mine" in Blacksmith Fork Canyon if you're interested. Heres some pics of it: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/93712497 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/93712441 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/93712414 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/92645833 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/93712428 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/92645891
