Ihlara Vadisi

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The Ihlara Valley, 14 km long, is one of the interesting sites in the Cappadocia region. The Melendiz Stream flows through the valley. This valley is important due to ancient history. The first Christians who escaped from the Romans had settled down in the valley. They had built numerous Byzantine rock chapels covered with frescoes into the volcanic caves.
