Gawdawful Fake Lighthouse Guntersville Lake

i am offended by this. my grandfather whom is 75 years old has been building this house for the past ten years with no more help that two other workers at a time. this is a mans work. don't be disrespectful and offensive, there is no sense in that. obviously it interested you enough to take a picture, post it, and comment about it- therefore it is a work of art. a picture is worth a thousand words, and your words i am afraid are WORTHLESS! sincerely, julie kate bruce

The title of this picture is very offensive & I would like to inform you that it IS a REAL lighthouse. It has a real light and is made of aggregate concrete. He is my grandfather too & the house has been featured in some architectural magazines. Most people in Guntersville are also familiar with Gunter's Landing Golf Course. He designed and built every inch of that as well. You should go take a picture of that. I am sure you'd have a negative title for that too. Get a life. Take a fishing pole instead of your camera the next time you're paddling around in your canoe Mr. Wingod.

This is actually a beautiful place, as a matter of fact, my daughter wants to have her wedding there. Can anyone give me information about if this would be possible.

You guys just go for it. No one that lives in the area likes it and if you turn it into a real lighthouse you will probably have a very big fight on your hands from the Browns Creek community association.

I don't have any opinion about the golf course as we don't have to look at it every single day on the lake.

If you guys like it then fine, but I have the right to my own opinion about it.

This lighthouse is absolutely beautiful! Such a nice change from the average lookalike lake homes.I would love being able to view this from my home.

I just moved to Alabama a couple months ago because of a job move from San Diego. Coming across the bridge to Guntersville for the first time and seeing your grandpas lighthouse in the distance was such a beautiful sight!.Your grandpa has added to the beauty of Guntersville in a tasteful way.Please tell your grandpa thank you for the beauty he has created.

FYI: My grandfather IS A MEMBER of the Browns Creek community association. Are you Mr. "Wingod"? If so, you should address this opinion at the meeting and not with a cowardly photo title. If you haven't seen the Gunter's Landing Golf Course & Community, you should. It's amazing. He also designed and built the Guntersville State park Golf Course, Lodge, & Chalets. That picture was taken from a horrible angle & the boat house with the GREEN roof is not part of his property. If you take a picture of the lighthouse from the truly "GAWDAWFUL" campground or from the island at Browns Creek you would see the entire proerty & how the lighthouse is part of the house itself. My grandfather's name is James W. Kennamer and he has accomplished more in his life than some men ever will. Thank you to those of you who posted positive comments. It is a very special place to our family. And Mr. Wingod, please remove the photo or at least rethink the title.

Just name it the Godwin lighthouse: to call it God Awful is a blasphmey, just the old pragmatist way of being a cussin sailor, like saying dad gum for G.D. The natural man has ways of cussin without saying the real words, but you must be born again in order to be a saved from Hell sinner, or you may be going there!

OK I am from Guntersville and I know the people who own this. I even want to use this place for where I want to get married because it's so beautiful. Yes Wingod you have the right to your own opinion, but you don't have to post it on the internet for the whole world to read. This is a creative and beautiful place. I hate seeing the people that I know that own this place being bashed and their property. You should be ashamed, it's really not a true Guntersvillian attitude to have.. we are known for being civil and nice. So stop posting mean things on here. WINGOD! What kind of name is that??
