Amazing photo of a pier that has been gone for decades now. As a child I grew up on the beach in the mid 70's and have some very fond memories. I lived in Treasure Island at the far end of Aliso Beach, and also across the highway next to Aliso Elementary where I went to school. I spent just about every waking moment on that beach when I wasn't in school or asleep. Not only is the pier gone, along with a much smaller one at the far end of the beach, but so is Treasure Island and the elementary school. It's sad when all of your childhood memories have been bulldozed by man or destroyed by nature. Wish I had some aerial pictures of that area from 70's or 80's before it all changed.
