I wanted to find out more about "Burgruine Ehrenburg" - and got right back here!

This ruin is not so well-known, I am afraid. There is a small article in the German Wikipedia and some German local homepages. Maybe I try to give you some information in English the next days.

This ruin is more a childhood memory for me, but not sooo important for our history.

Greetings, Sabine

Sabine, That is like me and the shots I have of Beeston Castle in Cheshire, UK.

I went there when I was younger and have never been back. So I decided to visit just before Christmas and take these shots.

Good morning, Tony

I found some information about the castle "Ehrenburg".

This castle was build in 1324. At the end of the 15th century the castle was already abandoned. In the 16th century it was already a ruin. In 1632 during the Thirty years war the rest of this building was destroyed. The first reconstructions started in the late 19th century. In 1912 the castle was sold and the castle was reconstructed... at least a bit. There is a small restaurant and people could live in. But after the '90 nobody uses this castle anymore.

I hope, this was quite interesting for you.

Greetings, Sabine
