Interesting sculpture.
Are here scalptures only with boys? No female sculptures?
As far as i know this picture was taken in the "Children’s Playground" but i couldn't find the reason why there are no female sculptures.
Do you know something from that?

Hi kariklea
In fact, there are female sculptures too, but we do not see them from this side. There are both men an women in the central column (but it's difficult to see them on this photo), and there are women in the other groups along the stairs, you can see them on other Panoramio pictures of this place. But they don't have a major role, Vigeland was probably not a great feminist...

I was just asking and pointing out the fact that i haven't seen girls on this monument.
As far as i know the relationship between man and woman was one of his inspiration themes, so i guess he wasn't against women but it was easier or harder, who knows, to make a man sculputure.
I have found some pictures from The Monolith, and there are quite great women bodies/sculputures too.
Cheers, Kariklea

What an amazing sculpture and photo. Do you know the story / history of the statues?
