Great shot picsonthemove I like the way you've captured the old and the new building together. Y*

A well deserved 1000+ views picsonthemove. The Royal Naval College is now the University of Greenwich, my daughter studied there for a time. The Chapel and Painted Hall are open to the public and worth a visit.

s_shugarov Your comment about the 3" W didn't look correct, the location marker is clearly to the East of the Meridian Line. If you zoom in on the map you can see that the satellite Image is about 105m West of it's true position. So making the correction the picture is taken 47m to the right of the Meridian Line, that's about 1.5" East.

Sometimes the silliest things bug me, maybe I should get out more often :)

Happy new Year.

Ian

Hello Ian,

I'm quite shure about the location, even i hadn't a GPS with me - I corrected the title - and many thanks for your kind words - it was a lovely day out there even Cutty Sark was still burned down at this time

Hi picsonthemove, I didn't mean to question you position, I'm sure you're absolutely correct.

I was curious to see how close you were to the Meridian Line when you took your picture. I zoomed into the map and noticed that the position of Longitude given on the Google map was wrong. Since the satellite image shows the buildings at the Greenwich Observatory (zero longitude line passes through this building) this must be the only place on the globe where you can check the accuracy so easily. You clearly took the picture on the east side of the Meridian Line but Google was reporting your marker position to the west. I couldn’t rest until I could see what was going on….

Kind regards

Ian
