November 11, 2007: "Lest we forget"

Yes, thank you for visiting Marilyn ... a flash was needed. A small window opened up in my schedule, and I could see the sunset was shaping up very nicely, so I rushed over. I missed some of the sunset, but still I'm quite pleased.

I let the camera set it's own exposure pointed at the orange part of the sky, then I used flash to fill in the foreground.

This corner is rather muddy this time of year (like the fields in Ypres, Flanders that we are reminded of in November), and the high winter winds had knocked over some crosses. I tried to stand up a few of the closest ones, but the sun was fading, so in the end I just photo-ed what I could.

I'm glad that someone else remembers. It seems to be out of fashion at the moment to have a minutes silence at 11.00 a.m. on 11/11. It's something I always observe. The folk who gave their lives deserve it.

Thank you Palmina and mald. It is good to remember. The schools in Canada always have Remembrance Day ceremonys, which seem to be more moving for me now as an adult.
